Stationery sets, tinned note cards, paper clips and journals, don't they make a pretty picture. Its still a lovely thing to send a card or letter rather than just an email as we all tend to do now. I find that something written on paper or in a journal has much more meaning and sentimental value than flicking through your computer files trying to find which one you have saved something into !! A collection of artistic covers and styles look so inviting, you can loose yourself for hours.
It would have taken a very skilled craftsperson to painstakingly create this inlaid box,it is made from carved bone, and the pattern is amazing. It sits well with these pink and brown toned vases and cushions,on one of my favourite old Edwardian painted dressers. It was sold recently and I will miss it when it goes to its new home. The beauty of having an antiques shop is that something else just as lovely will take its place, stay for a while and then move on to a new owner. Every living person is just a caretaker of the posessions they have until the next person comes along who appreciates and cares for the same things they do.
