Timeless tin

Everything pictured today has either been made from tin or has tin incorporated somewhere. The large green meatsafe has very old stripped pressed tin inserted into the doors where zinc would once have been, and the chest of drawers looks fantastic with the old tin wrapped over each drawer as a feature. The roosters and tall tree are both cut outs and look very effective.

lovely vases

This lovely large majolica vase has been in the shop for a few weeks, but until now has not held any flowers. Today I have picked some geralton wax,ivy and violet leaves as a filler, and then added flowering hawthorn and the rose Monsieur Tillier. Greenery is always good in a big sized vase as too many flowers are needed otherwise, and it does make the flowers look more natural, and as they would in the garden.

garden pics

Many of the roses here in the Rose Harvest garden only bloom once or twice for the year, so I just had to capture them at their absolute best. The stunning pink variety displayed in the bucket are from the very majestic "La Reine Victoria".

More beautiful things

There seems to be a lot of black in the shop at the moment, I think it can look great when put amongst other objects that are complimented by the dark contrast. You probably would not want it in every room of the house, but as a feature it can look quite stunning.

Glamour and glitz

Some stunning dresses have arrived just in time for the racing season, and warm weather is on the way next week . ( so we have been informed by a reliable source ) I couldn't resist a photo of this very sumptuous French Boudoir style ottoman, it is almost big enough to sleep on.There are so many things to feature today, I have chosen a few favourites, including these ruby cut crystal perfume bottles, they also come in Bristol blue and deep green, a very early Victorian hand crank sewing machine ( hidden amongst the lace and hat pins ) and a very long and low Victorian stool, most unusual . The last photo is of another hand crank sewing machine, approximately 1920's in immaculate condition, still with its original leather case and still containing the instruction manual.

Yet another door

I had no idea there were so many styles of beautiful old doors until recently. I just wonder how many different hands have grasped that door handle, and how many different feet have walked through the threshold of the dwelling or shop that this interesting panelled beauty once graced.

Going French

A definite taste of France has found its way to Rose Harvest with these two vintage French style chairs and roll top ladies desk. They look so good together!
